Planning any type of party is hectic. Whether it be a wedding, 50th birthday,
corporate function or other. The organizer usually picks out and pays for the high
cost items, i.e the reception location, food, beverages, photographer, entertainment,
honeymoon and attire. When you get down the final guest list and table seating the
favors finally come into the spotlight. And when all is tallied, the budget is well
over what was anticipated.
The guests are putting aside all else to celebrate
this special occasion with you and you your family. You have planned the entire event
so that everyone will enjoy every detail from the fragrant flowers to the sumptuous
meal at the reception. Don't skimp on the favors. For this is the one item that they
will cherish forever. Keep that in mind, even when deciding on the favor.
You
don't want your guests to go home, eat or use what is inside the favor and then discard
the wrapper. Pick a favor that will last and can be used for more that just the favor.
A basket that can be used as a soap dish, a porcelain box that can hold jewelery
or a votive candle holder.
You may prefer to personalize you favor, so that
it is more of a keepsake. This is not only unique, but is always a small reminder
to them of that special day that you shared with them. Chocolates are always a favorite
among your guests. Today, however, the traditions are being broken and items such
as gourmet coffee beans, wildflower seeds and jelly beans are being used as favors.
Favors
can be used as part of the table arrangements, part of the meal or stand alone. Most
items can be color coordinated or themed to add a wonderful touch to your reception
tables. Show your guests how important they are to you. Pick your favors to fit your
personality. Don't use something that is cheap or an afterthought. You wouldn't want
that to be the chatter at your party. So give them something to chatter about!!
When
it comes to budgeting for your favors the best way to calculate an approximate cost
is to take 10 - 15% of the cost per guest and use that as a guide. For example, if
your cost is $24.00 per guest, then you plan on $2.40 - $3.60. The company you choose
will customize your favors with as few as 25 guests. A deposit is usually required,
as well as a final count 15 days before shipping (about 45 days before the big day).
Favors say a lot about you. Tell your guests how much you appreciate them
with a keepsake that they will treasure for a lifetime.
